I forgot who posted this sometime back, but this is how I now remove all of my base plates. Being right handed, I hold the Glock tool in my right hand and magazine in my left hand. I push the tool fully into the base plate through the "button hole" then, I pull with my right hand and push with my left.....works perfectly every time.
The newer ones have a tab in the center of the bottom of the magazine. That needs to be released in order for the +2 baseplate to be removed. By useing a punch, or the Glock tool. Then squeeze the tabs on the sides of the base of the magazine and slide the base off the front. It works the same as a factory base plate, except its designed different.
