The Benelli 11701 Limited Edition M4/M1014 has a fixed skeletonized stock (due to the recoil tube NOT machined for the stock to slide closed).

The 1301 is light as all get out but recoil is light. Like there is no way a shotgun that light should recoil this light. The fundamental difference between Benelli M4 and Beretta 1301 is "short stroke vs long stroke" piston systems. It seems that both the 1301 and M4 are designed with the defensive/tactical shooter primarily in mind. Both companies offer models for hunters and clay shooters that are better suited to those tasks. The main difference between the M4 and 1301 seems to be inertia vs. gas within the realm of 3-gun competition and defense. Just my 2 cents.
