Devils lake ice fishing reports.
We have had 2 instances so far this year where we have been super deep, otherwise it’s all been in 15-35 feet of water. The fish are going to tell you when to go to those super deep areas and it might be starting to happen but definitely do some thorough searching below 35 feet first. $50.00 – 1-7-23.
Dec 11, 2022 · December 11, 2022. . Finally have a few days on the ice guiding up here on Devils Lake. The cold snap definitely firmed up the ice and I’d say we have on average 10 plus inches all over the lake. Quite a few ridges out there, most are quiet at the moment, but with the snow they are forecasting that will change also. Just a Devils Lake outdoor junkie. This is my blog. Each winter, thousands upon thousands of anglers take on this giant body of water, in search of jumbo perch, walleye, and pike (yes, there are white bass and crappie too). And when you get into a good school, fishing can be nothing short of amazing.We were deep, greater than 30 feet of water and that is a big change from the shallow Walleyes and Big Perch that we had been chasing. Not great, but there are still Walleyes and Perch deep. A lot of the Perch are on the smaller side, but we managed quite a few 9-10 inchers with a few 11-12’s mixed in. The only problem with fishing in deeper than 33 feet of water, they are probably all dead. The smaller Perch and the BIG Walleyes cannot handle the rapid change in pressure.

East Bay and EDL are currently in that 11-13 inch range. The cold snap that is about to occur tonight through early next week should get us to that ‘driving ice’ depth.
