Your EVIC should show actual coolant temps. But to answer your question; yes, the 3.6 runs hot. Apparently that is where it is most efficient and happy.1. Get Lifted – The SMART Way. Long story short the radiator fan is excessively loud and the jeep is over heating, I drove it about an hour and a half from the place I bought it from and now I can't even make it down the street.

From what I can find the 3.6L V-6 takes a 203 degree thermostat. Decided to replace thermostat. Put new Mopar thermostat in, and the JK still runs at 220 on average. Took JK to my other mechanic. He did some research and found that drilling a 1/8" hole in thermostat will allow Jeep to run cooler. Decided to drill hole. The Jeep is still running hot. About 220. Took the JK back to the dealer.It seems that there are more complaints from owners with 12 plus 3.6 JK's running hot, but in most instances it's normal. The variable speed fan is a better set up than prior year JK's. Beginning in 2012 with the 3.6 Chrysler went to a variable speed fan, basically low-med-high.
