Tarkiln Bayou is a preserve and is part of the Florida State Park System. To enter Tarkiln Bayou, you’ll need to either have a State Park Pass or pay a day-use fee. A fishing license is also required. There is handicap-accessible fishing allowed at the end of a boardwalk, a one-half mile walk from the parking area.

Tarkiln Bayou Preserve State Park is committed to providing a variety of amenities accessible to all of our visitors. These amenities include: Picnic facilities with tables. Tarkiln Bayou Trail is a half-mile accessible trail with benches. When the trail ends, the observation area provides a scenic view of the bayou. The original 900 acres of the park was acquired in 1998. Since that time there has been an ongoing active acquisition program.
