It is a inexpensive powder but many do not like the powder leakage when loading. If you use a MEC loader a red PC powder baffle is almost a must.One of the best powders for those loads would be Accurate's Nitro 100. Also Hodgdon's Titewad should work very well. The probable reason for your blackened hulls is soot caused by lower pressures. Look for powders that are faster burning than 700X that will give you higher pressures with the lighter shot charges. As mentioned, Extra Lite is a good choice. Other powders to look at include Titewad and Nitro 100. mg1polo and ganger.
