I own a 2013 F-150 I bought in 2014. I've had it almost 2 years with 22,000 miles on it on the 5.0 liter, V-8. The front end has developed a slight vibration grinding noise at low speeds. It happens when braking and accelerating from a stop. It happens only at slow speeds, 0-20 mph. Had it in to the dealer, but they could not reproduce the issue.When under pressure, the checkvalve is supposed to close, and prevent loss of vacuum to the hubs. Downstream of that checkvalve is the 4X4 solenoid. When in 2wd, this solenoid provides vacuum to the hubs keeping them disengaged. If it goes away when you switch it to 4x4 its a bad IWE or IWE solenoid. If it is the IWE grinding it's not urgent but it'll eventually grind itself out and the hub won't lock when you put it in 4x4.
