That took care of the creep, and I then installed a lighter spring and got it from 4 down to two or three pounds. The old trigger groups worked much better ...

I have tried putting the safety on and pulling the charging handle back, it clicks but still releases forward. My son noticed that it was not staying open after the last shot fired also. It kept missing a beat every 10 shots or so. i was getting wound up at Remington's terrible ammo, but then started shooting it in a couple other guns. Surprise--it isn't the ammo.

Once you take the take down screw out of the bottom of the foreend, the entire barrel assembly, bolt, magazine housing, forend and all should just pull straight forward out of the receiver in one unit.
