The City of Gaylord maintains an elk herd and provides viewing areas for the public to stop and watch these impressive animals. They are running cow elk hunts (meat hunts) for $1,200 each. These are big cows (350-400 dressed weight). There are only about ten left for this year. This is a 600 acre enclosure under one fence, so it's not a canned hunt. There is a USDA butcher shop on site, and for $200 they will process your meat (aged, cut, vacuum sealed and frozen) as well.
