Pretty confident that damaged mechs would be less of an issue if they were put just outside the Orphix field. Getting in and out of summoned mechs is going to happen inside the Orphix area, so moving the damaged mechs seems like a pretty simple solution that wouldn't involve any particularly special coding on DE's part.

I've see the downed mechs periodically in orphix missions, but I've also had issues where a party member without a necramech couldn't find a mech to jump in to. I suspect there may be a bug responsible for this, that or it's a very annoying oversight by DE. Especially since the prerequisite for railjack is to have just completed the archwing ...
